We’re only a month in but this might be my biggest disappointment of the year. I LOVE the work of Junji Ito, and this strips it of all its detail, being the most barebones possible adaptation. The stories themselves are good, and some of the sound design is really eerie, building a good amount of atmosphere, but the animation lacks fluidity and detail, killing any tension stone dead. The only good parts here are the hair segment, the Layers of Terror segment, and the Tomb Town episode. Just read the manga.

This had some good and not so good Junji Ito stuff in it. The animation was pretty solid in a few episodes. Still it was a fun watch of horror anime.

Finishing this series is not a smooth journey. This series adapts several of Junji Ito's comics, and the results tend to be soso. From the start, I didn't expect much, so it was an okay watch.
